Housing Assistance Scholarship

Designed to promote degree completion, the Housing Assistance Scholarship supports Idaho students experiencing housing insecurity in the final semesters of their academic journey.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Idaho resident
  • Within four semesters of completing first Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrate financial need for housing costs. We will determine this by your short answers.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA or evidence of recent progress
  • Enrolled at least part-time (6 undergraduate credits)

To apply, please complete the supplemental questions and attach required documentation.

Award
Up to $2,000, covering 50% of demonstrated need or $500 per month—whichever limit is reached first– to put towards your housing costs.

  1. The following questions will be determining factors for assessing scholarship eligibility
    • 1. What’s your monthly household income?
    • 2. What do you pay in rent and utility costs per month?
    • 3. What is your expected graduation semester?
    • 4. How will this housing support help you graduate? Please include how much monthly assistance you need to stabilize your housing situation.
    • 5. Briefly explain any unexpected circumstances that led you to apply for this funding?
  2. Acknowledgement section:
    • I acknowledge all communication about this scholarship will be sent to my Boise State student email.
    • I acknowledge recipients of this scholarship are asked to complete one Money Matters session through Boise State’s Financial Wellness Program and I agree to complete this by the end of the semester I’m receiving this scholarship.
    • I acknowledge that receiving this scholarship may reduce the amount of qualified expenses I can use when calculating a deduction or credit. This will be reflected on the 1098 tax form.
    • I acknowledge the intention of these funds is to help me graduate.
  3. The following questions are for data collection purposes only and will NOT be determining factors for assessing scholarship eligibility
    • How many hours per week do you plan on working this semester?
    • How many in your household are financially dependent on you? (i.e children, partners that do not pay rent, family members, people for whom you are a caregiver)
    • What other resources have you sought out for assistance?
  4. Please attach both required documents:
    • Letter of support written by a Boise State faculty or staff member or community member that verifies your need for housing assistance in relation to your degree completion plans. Please upload as a single Word or PDF document (8 MB max file size) using your name and Boise State student ID number as the filename. To save as PDF: For Microsoft users: From Word document click File, Save As, and then click PDF or XPS. For Mac users: Choose print, click on PDF in the bottom-left of the Print menu and Save as PDF. Do not use any special characters in the file name including periods, hyphens, apostrophes, etc. You should also include your full name and Boise State student ID number on the header of each page.
    • Verification of rent owed (lease with name on it or owner verifying renter and amount). Please upload as a single Word or PDF document (8 MB max file size) using your name and Boise State student ID number as the filename.
