Alumni Legacy Scholarship
The Alumni Legacy Scholarship is a four-year, renewable full-tuition scholarship for incoming first-year students available to the relative of a Boise State alum, who is a current member of the Boise State Alumni Association. Applicant must be a relative of an alumna or alumnus of Boise State. The applicant will receive preference if the alumni relative is a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, step-parent or legal guardian of Boise State University, Boise State College, or Boise Junior College. The scholarship amount is equal to in-state fees during the fall and spring semesters.
Scholarship Application Minimum Requirements:
- Applicant must be a relative of an alumna or alumnus of Boise State. The alumni relative of the applicant must be a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, step-parent, or legal guardian of Boise State University, Boise State College, or Boise Junior College.
- The relative of the applicant must have completed a minimum of 25 credits with Boise State University, Boise State College, or Boise Junior College or graduated
- The relative is a current dues-paying member of the Boise State University Alumni Association
- The applicant is an incoming freshman
- Enrolled as a full-time (12 undergraduate credits) fee-paying student
- Minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.5
- Submit a copy of your official high school transcript. (Note that if your GPA has changed since you applied for admissions, updated transcripts must be submitted to Boise State Admissions before the scholarship application deadline.)

With as much detail as possible (there is no page limit), please produce a resume detailing your activities and achievements over the last four years. Be sure to include the length of your involvement in each activity (dates and number of hours served), explanations of duties, and leadership roles if applicable. You should include the following categories on your resume:
- Academics: We understand and appreciate that not every high school is able to offer multiple AP courses. If you did take AP courses, please list them on your resume. (Your application will not be penalized if you did not take AP courses.)
- Professional/personal growth: Describe formal training you have received (paid or unpaid employment, internships, workshops attended, etc.) or informal experience you have acquired (such as family caregiving or running a blog) that has shaped your interests or identity.
- Community service/ Volunteerism: Explain how you have helped others and what you have done to improve your community. Your community may include, but is not limited to: your school, neighborhood, city, religious organization, or a social identity/special interest group that you belong to. Include specific projects you’ve worked on and what your role was.
- Group participation/leadership: Provide examples of group participation or leadership experience in a team, club, organization, community, etc.
- Other activities: List other special skills, talents, hobbies or knowledge you have demonstrated outside the classroom. Consider things that show your creativity, your ability to see alternatives or other perspectives, or your willingness to try new things.
- Awards and recognition: Describe awards or recognitions you have received (academics, arts, athletics, community engagement, etc.)
Scholarship Renewal Criteria: Scholarship recipients are eligible for up to three additional years if the following requirements are maintained:
- Full-time enrollment
- 3.25 cumulative GPA
- Participation as a member in good standing of a recognized Boise State club or organization (recognized by the Student Involvement and Leadership Center or recognized University department)
- Attendance at key alumni events (Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Association Board Meetings, etc) as requested by the Director of Student and Recent Graduates
Scholarships are competitive, and qualifying for scholarships does not guarantee you will receive an award.
