Michael Blankenship Social Justice Scholarship

The Michael Blankenship Social Justice Scholarship

In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Pursuing a Criminal Justice major
  • Junior or Senior grade level standing by the end of the start of fall semester (58 credits or above)
  • At least part-time enrollment (6 undergraduate credits)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Students must have applied for and received criminal justice upper division standing.
  • Student must be able to demonstrate involvement in a significant way (volunteer or paid work) in furthering social and environmental justice (religious service is not sufficient).

In order to be considered for this award, students must submit an essay and letter of recommendation. This is a one year award.

  1. Have you been admitted to the upper division Criminal Justice program?
  2. Do you demonstrate involvement in a significant way, either through volunteer or paid work, in furthering social and environmental justice (religious service is not sufficient)? See listing of acceptable agencies in help text. Other agencies with similar or related purposes may also qualify as appropriate agencies for paid or volunteer work.
  3. Please list your volunteer/paid agency work, position, length and job description of volunteer duties.
  4. Please attach a letter of recommendation from the agency's supervisor or volunteer coordinator. The letter should include pertinent contact information (phone and email) and should confirm dates and job description.
