Richard & Adelia Simplot Scholarship

The Richard & Adelia Simplot Scholarship was established in 1977 to honor the late Richard Simplot and his wife Adelia. Richard was the eldest son of JR and Esther Simplot and an executive with the Simplot company. He was named to the Board of Directors in August 1970. Adelia and Richard met in 1953 and started their family at the same time they were starting their careers with the Simplot Company. When the couple moved to Boise in 1959 Adelia became involved in community organizations. She found a passion for community development and joined the board of directors of several institutions and worked to save historic landmarks in Boise, including much of what is now known as the Basque Block.
