Eva Wren Maxon Nursing Graduate Student Scholarship
The Eva Wren Maxon Nursing Graduate Student Scholarship was established in 2019. Eva Wren Maxon, RN, lived her life caring for others. She was born in Winona, Idaho in 1906, graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1931 and attended Boise Junior College. She was night supervisor at St. Luke’s before becoming assistant administrator in 1951. She died in 1959. Mrs. Maxon was committed to the education and empowerment of all people regardless of race or social standing. Her courage, integrity, compassion, and hard work made a difference in many lives. Some achieve notability and are honored. Some, like Eva Maxon, quietly and in the shadows, make profound and unacknowledged contributions. Our communities thrive in the space of these quiet gifts. Her daughter, Carol, and son-in-law, John Friends, created this endowment to honor her contribution and to support students who share Eva’s values and her commitment to the well-being of the greater community above themselves.
