Department of English Scholarships Application

English degree-seeking students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are eligible to apply. Scholarship awards are competitive and students are selected based on academic achievement and artistic talent. Some awards are also based on demonstrated financial need. To be considered for any need-based awards, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the appropriate year.

Alice Vetter Ashcroft Endowed Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time (12 undergraduate credits; 9 grad credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Major: French: Secondary Education

The Anne B. Laliberte Memorial Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Pursing an English major
  • Full time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Boise State University Bookstore Readers and Writers Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate enrolled in the English program whose degree has an emphasis on creative writing or literature
  • At least part-time (6 undergraduate credits, 5 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your need by the results of your free application for federal student aid (FAFSA).

The Charles Davis English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate
  • English major
  • Student must be active in campus or civic life

The Daryl & Ann Jones English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Pursuing an English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA

The Dr. Margaret Peek English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Junior or Senior
  • Pursuing an English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

The Eugene & Lois Chaffee English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

The Helen Moore Memorial Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate
  • Pursuing an English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Jeff Seamons Writing Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • English major with a writing emphasis
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

The Jim & Betty Maguire English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate pursing an English major
  • At least part-time enrollment (6 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

The Lonnie L. Willis English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Pursuing an English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

The Mary Ellen Ryder Memorial Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate
  • Pursuing an English major
  • At least part time (6 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Students must also be enrolled in Linguistics Program

The Ruth V. Ewy English Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • English major
  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
