Department of Communication and Media Scholarships Application

If you are pursuing a Communication degree and want to be considered for Department of Communication and Media scholarships, you must complete this application as well as attach an essay (about 1,000 words) that covers the following subjects:

  • Why you chose to major in Communication
  • How your major connects to your plans beyond pursuing a degree at Boise State
  • Something you learned in a specific Communication course (a concept, idea, theory, or method) that you feel will contribute to your ability to achieve your future goals
  • Any other aspects about your future plans you would like the committee to consider. Please upload as a single word or PDF document (8 MB max file size). Make sure your full name and student ID number are on the header of each page.

The Charles and JoAnne Wilson Family Communication Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to enroll full-time (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Pursing a Communication major
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Preference will be given to students who are committed to teaching and education.

The Robert & Marjorie Boren Communication Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to enroll full-time (12 undergraduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Pursuing a Communication major

The Eleanor R & C. Harvey Pitman Communication Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to enroll full time (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Pursuing a Communication major

The Dr. Daniel N. Morris Memorial Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Pursuing a Communication major
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Preference will be given to students involved with campus journalism, especially The Arbiter.

The Donna Lang Memorial Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate
  • Pursuing a Communication major with a preference given to students with a strong desire to be a future teacher
  • Demonstrate financial need. We can determine your financial need by the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Ted Trueblood Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment (12 undergraduate credits, 9 graduate credits)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Communication majors
  • Preference will be given students who have an interest in creative writing and an emphasis on natural resources, conservation, and/or recreation.
