The Second Chance Scholarship

In order to be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

  • At least a 2.25 GPA
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Permanent resident or U.S. citizen
  • Plan to enroll part-time (6 undergraduate credits) or full-time (12 undergraduate credits)
  • Submit essay on why they want to resume their education and the impact this will have on their lives and families life.
  • Re-admitted or accepted as a transfer student to Boise State; experienced a cumulative gap in education of at least five (5) years
  • Demonstrate financial need. Financial need can be determined per the results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Interest in the study of the arts, humanities, social sciences, communications, public service, history, languages, general studies or education

  1. Please attach a short essay (250-500 words) addressing the following: 1) Elaborate on your educational gap of at least five years 2) Why you want to resume your education and the impact this will have on your life and that of your family. Please upload as a single Word or PDF document (8 MB max file size) using your name and Boise State student ID number as the filename. To save as PDF: For Microsoft users: From Word document click File, Save As, and then click PDF or XPS. For Mac users: Choose print, click on PDF in the bottom-left of the Print menu and Save as PDF. Do not use any special characters in the file name including periods, hyphens, apostrophes, etc. You should also include your full name and Boise State student ID number on the header of each page.
