Morley Nelson Biology Scholarship
The Morley Nelson Biology Scholarship was established in 1980 in honor of Morley Nelson who passed away in 2005. At just 12 years of age Morley trained his first hawk and remained dedicated to the preservation of birds of prey for the rest of his life. He played semi-professional hockey to help pay his way through college in the 1930’s. At the outbreak of WWII Morley joined the elite 10th Mountain Division ski troops as an officer and received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Silver Star for combat action. Morley had a long and productive association with the Idaho Power Company and Edison Electric Institute in which he helped solve the electrocution of eagles problem.
