Gerald & Eunice Wallace Scholarship
The Gerald & Eunice Wallace Scholarship was established in 1988 by the late Gerald & Eunice Wallace. Eunice was a professor of English at Boise State prior to her retirement. During her career she authored spelling/writing textbooks for use in elementary and junior high schools, self-instructional books and materials for his school and college students, as well as a community history book on the Wyoming County were she grew up. She served as a consultant, instructor and in-service educator conducting workshops and seminars for teachers of English composition and spelling throughout the United States. Eunice also presented papers for professional organizations, directed language-arts research, and published numerous articles. In 1974 she took a group of students to Kenya to study African literature and in 1977 she took a group of teachers to England. At her retirement she was awarded the Silver Medallion for service by Boise State. Eunice was also a pianist, accompanist, singer, and choir director as well as an enthusiastic rock-hound and craftsperson. Gerald served as the dean of the College of Education and then as the acting executive vice president for Boise State. He was a lifetime educator who was a beloved figure during his years on campus. He served as a school administrator in Boise, Twin Falls, Oregon and New Jersey. Gerald also worked for the National Education Association in Washington D.C. The Wallace Conference Room in the Education Building at Boise State is named in his honor.
