Gene Quintieri Memorial Bowling Scholarship
The Gene Quintieri Memorial Bowling Scholarship was established in 2000 in memory of the late Gene Quintieri. Quintieri was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but came to Boise in 1950 when Beall Pipe transferred him as the division manager of their new plant where he worked until his retirement in 1970. In 1959 Quintieri formed a corporation and built Meridian Bowling Lanes Inc., a bowling center in Meridian. He served as president of this corporation until his death in 2000. Quintieri served two terms as chairman of the Boise Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee and two terms as chairman of the Boise Chamber of Commerce Streets and Highways Committee. He also served two terms as state of Idaho president of the Idaho Bowling Proprietors Association, two years as president of the Treasure Valley Traffic Association, and was director of the El Korah Shrine Mechanics Unit. In 1993 Gene was inducted into the Boise Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
